I have a 7 week old Toy Fox Terrier. She quit nursing around 6 weeks. She does not eat food. Ihave tried soft pedigree, I have soaked dry food to where it's mushy, somewhat mushy. I have tried hanburger meat, fried chicken, baby food - chicken and turkey, chicken noodle soup... a variation of all the above. About 4 days ago, she was on the verge of dying, I started giving her nutrical and some other nutirients mixed with pedialyte every 2 hours for 4 days straight. She has energy now. She is going poop now. I still have to feed her by the bottle. Also we have done x-rays and blood work. None of it turned up anything. The vet and all my animal friends are stumped. Does anyone have any advise for me?? I really would appreciate it.
Also she has a brother and sister that are completely healthy and eat like pigs no matter what you put in front of them!!

averhart, if your vet is stumped I don't know if anyone's suggestions here will help. It may be that she just isn't a healthy pup. Right now, since she is responding to what you have been doing, I would suggest that you continue the Nutrical, bottle, etc for another week or two and keep trying to get her onto solids. Please stop trying to get her to eat people food. Fried chicken is not good for a sickly puppy. Try soaking the dry food in some plain (tepid) chicken broth (forget the noodles - your local grocery store should sell plain broth in a box or can in the soup section. If you can find the organic stuff, use that) or you can use a puppy milk replacement (again warmed up) instead of the broth. Make sure the chow is allowed to get very, very mushy and soft before trying it on her. See if she will eat small bites out of your hand. Just do this in small amounts so you don't waste it and keep trying this a few times a day.

If by the time she is 9 weeks old and still won't go onto solids, you may want to seek out another vet's opinion. I am left wondering if she has a palate issue that the vet didn't check. I am sorry to say this but it is a fact of life that not every puppy in a litter lives. Some just aren't healthy enough. It appears you are doing the best that you can with this situation. That is all any of us can do.
