    Calculate area from perimeter
Suppose I have a blueprint of a house that has many walls (some straight, some indented, etc.). I have the measurements of the lengths of all walls, all around the house. I assume that if I add all the measurements together, I get the perimeter, right? How do I figure out the square footage of the house from the perimeter?

    Thanks.

    N.

You cannot figure out the square footage, unless you know the exact shape of the perimeter. Is it a square, rectangle, etc.

Break your house up into rectangles, squares, triangles, whatever, and calculate accordingly. Then, add them up.

Better yet, can you make a drawing with paint(along with the dimensions) and post it, Then, perhaps, we can help you along.

Heh heh, it would be so much easier if you could calculate the area from the perimeter, but you can have a triangle, a square, and a circle with different perimeters and same area, so... there's no shortcut but to take the time to draw the entire figure with all the sides perfect.

U have to divide the both perimeters and add up the area to find it
