I will be installing a new bathroom in the basement of my 60 year old home.
I have to questions.
The first is venting.
Can I use a mechanical vent to vent both the toilet and the sink?
It is impossible for me to get the vent that goes through the roof of this 2 story home with an attic.
Second question:
The waste line that leaves the house is resting at the level of the basement floor.
I was going to elevate the toilet on a 2 x 12 subfloor. Will this be enough of a vertical drop to allow the toilet to flush? The horizontal run from the toilet to the waste line will be no more than three feet.

Cabbie, you can use a mechanical vent (AAV) but you also asked if it is impossible to vent all the way to the roof. You tell us, is there a chase or room to run a vent stack all the way without it coming through a living space? When you say your waste line leaves the house at the level of the basement floor do you mean the drain sits on top of the floor or is it buried inside the floor?

I CANNOT run a vent through the roof.
I could get one to go outside at ground level but that would be the best I could do

The waste line is a cast iron pipi that runs inbedded in the concrete floor, 3/4 above level and about 1/4 below. I can easily chip away the concrete to get arould all side of the pipe.
It connects from a vertical stack, travels about 3 feet along the floor, and then out through the wall to a septic system.
