So I am 19 years old I have medium length brown dirty blonde hair. I died my hair two days ago to a ash medium blonde... just a home dying system I picked up at walmart... it didn't go light enough for me so I went back and got a lighter one yesturday and its still not changed... the colors not working on my hair but I know highlighting will because that's all I used to use... so if I go to the store and buy a home highlighting kit can I do it tonight or will I go bald? I would really like to lighen my hair up to where it is suppsoe to be... I was just unsure since I died my hair for the past two days if I can highlight it tonight

Applying a lighter color on darker hair will do nothing for your hair. You will need to use a hair lightening product to lift the color. I think highlights will work, but using home highlighting kits can over-process your hair and make the highlights too yellow or white. If you want soft highlights, choose a hair color a couple shades lighter than your natural hair color and mix it with a 20-volume peroxide developer in equal parts to lift the hair color. You will find hair highlighting caps and tools at a beauty supply store.
