Hello, I am in the process of finishing my basement. The house already had a toilet and sink roughed in and I hired a plumbing contractor to install a shower drain by tying into the existing drain. No problems, I have finished building my walls, tile work, set the shower pan, etc. I am now ready to set my toilet, however when I removed the black cap from the toilet rough-in, about 2" down (where I expected to see water or at the very least nothing) there is what appears to be another white colored cover over the drain. This cover unlike the first one does not have any markings on it indicating how to remove it like the first black cover did (it had clear markings that said to "knock out" here).
My question is, Is this a secondary cover for code purposes ? My thought is to drill a small pilot hole into it and see if I can pull it off.
Any suggestions?
BTW, when I had the contractor out to do the shower drain, he did nothing to the toilet rough in area since it was already there. Both of us assumed that it was all ready to go and since he tied the shower drian into it, I have to believe that it is all connected. I suppose I am being overly cautious, but I have never seen this before.
Thanks,
Dave
