95 Toyota tercel.rapid clicking instead of starting
Last night on my way home, I noticed that everytime I stepped on the gas or the break that my radio would shut off. This also happened if I cranked up the AC or the heat. It sounded fine and made it home. This morning when i went to go start it just makes this rapid fire clicking sound and nothing else. I got out and checked the connections. I replaced the alternator about 8 months ago. What could be the problem?

    Ok. Your battery is dead.
Take out your battery and get it tested to see if it's bad. Say, NAPA Auto parts or auto Zone. If your battery is fine you have a bad alternator or a short somewhere in your electrical system.
I have 86 Toyota MR2 and the same thing happened. My battery was dead. Changed the alternator and found where my short was. Now all I have to do is put in a 6 speed tranny and rebuild the silver top engine.
It's kind of odd for a girl to get dirty but I LOVE working on cars.

The battery is brand new, I just bought it three days ago.

Then you have a bad alternator and or a short some where that keeps draining the battery.
My issue was with the stereo. Check all your connections! Very time consuming but worth it. Or you could take it somewhere.

The new battery is probably faulty. Take it back where you bought it for exchange.
When you are ready to reinstall the replacement, make certain the cable ends are clean and tight.

I'm putting bets on the alternator. Was that a reman alt from toyota or your garden variety aftermarket brand??
