I asked my landlord can I add my then fiancé to lease when we got married. She didn't have a problem with it. We got married a few months ago, now she giving me the run around. What can I do. Do she have the right to not allow my husband on the lease.
What advantage do you think you get from not having your husband on the lease or does she get from keeping him off? If anything, its to her advantage to have him on the lease. For you, its really immaterial.
So I wouldn't push it. I would wait until the lease expires and make sure he's on the renewal.
I want to know do I have options if my landlord doesn't add husband to lease. Before lease started, she knew we were going to get married and that I wanted to add him eventually. Now I been given the run around.
I don't want to wait till lease ends. The lease started about 3 months ago. I have 9 months to go. What are my options.
Is there a way I can legally end the lease. Also, she didn't provide me with an address. I was told she was suppose to provide with her address.
Does that have to be a home address or post office address.

I ask again, what advantage do you think you get from adding your husband to the lease. I don't understand why the landlord is giving you a run around about this but its just not that big a deal.
As for the address, where do you send rent payments to? Does she come around to collect or do you mail them someplace? She can use any address she wants. It can be a PO box if she wants.
I see no grounds for breaking your lease at this point.
The only suggestion I have is if she comes and picks up the rental. Make two copies of the lease and handwrite your husband's name on it. Then YOU initial and date the change on both copies. When she comes to collect ask her to initial and date the copies as well. Then give her one copy.
My income have changed and he is gettting income. I was told originally that he can be added to lease. Now my landlord act like she don't. We are married and have kids together,etc. She said, "I am going to need help" but is giving me the run around

Please reread my previous answer I changed it after finding that you started a new thread. But you are still not answering my question. What advantage do you think you get from your husband being on the lease? What does your change in income have to do with anything? Is this Section 8 housing that has an income component? If your rental is dependent on income, then its to your advanatage not to have him on the lease.
I don't understand what the landlord meant about needing help.
Wouldn't what be illegal? Have you make the change and initial it and get her initials? That's a standard way of making minor changes to contracts. Nothing illegal about it.Quote:

Section 8 unless you are in government owned property is merely a payment agreement, where the government pays a part ( or most) of a rental payment normally directly to the landlord.
It sounds like the landlord does not want their guarantee rent to stop, Now they get a check for sure, with no collectoin issues. First have you went to the social services office and reported the change Now that you are married, your combined income will change food stamps, medicaid, and section 8 rights. It is possible that you can not receive section 8 payments since you are now married.

Did you read what Chuck and I said? What you need to do is talk to the social services people. Your landlord may have said she would add him then found out that she couldn't because its Section 8.
