I would like to install a microhood with an electric range I just purchased. I am getting conflicting information as to the amount of clearance needed for this. Some people say you need at least 16" from the top of the range elements to the underside of the microhood. Others have said that as long as you have 30" inches from the element to the top of the microhood it should be fine. I have 66" floor to cabinet wear I plan to put the range. Any ideas?

I am presuming that by microhood you are talking about a microwave with a built in fan? I have one over my range. It has an automatic fan, which kicks on whenever I am cooking and have several pans going at once. My husband has put up several in his line of work. I just measured mine and it 17 inches from the counter or stove to the very bottom of the microwave. Hopes this helps...

I'm in the same boat. I was told 66 inches and yo are fine, but this leaves me with 13 inches between the cooking element and bottom of the microhood. When I looked at the layout I noticed that the "feet" on the bottom of the range place my oven 3 inches off the floor. I'm sure these can be adjusted lower to give me the needed space. Hope this helps.

My suggestion would be to contact the manufacturer and ask them the specs before purchasing. We put one in for my sister in law and it is only about 16" above the range top. But we modified the cabinets some to accomidate the unit.
