Digital Cable/ DVD/VCR/ TV Hook up
I am having trouble view my dvd/vcr. I think I have it hooked up correctly but can't see any picture at all.

I have a Toshiba SD-V291 for the dvd/vcr and the TV is a Samsung TXJ2066. And the Digital Cable Box is an Explorer 2200.

I don't even know what channel the digital cable should be on. That could very well be the problem.

    Aidjar,

You gave me everything but the necessary connection information.

Please, let me know what types of connections are available on each of your units so I can map them together.

The problem here is that all these devices now have multiple inputs and putputs. The idea is to match the best output to the best input. The Toshiba recorder should be set to Channel 3 or 4 depending on your area. In this way, the set top box tuner is what is used. The same thing goes for the TV. If you want to be able to record and watch something different, then you will need to either split the cable signal or use different inputs . So what we need to know what types of inputs and outputs each device has. The main types are coax, composite, S-Video, Component and HDMI.

The Samsung TV has only digital/audio
DVD/VCR has componet, S-video, coax, and digital audio/video.
The Digital cable box has digital audio/video and S-video

I would run both digital audio and S-Video from the output of the cablebox to the inputs on the recorder. Then the digital audio out frm the Recoder to the TV.
