When I woke up this morning there is a puddle of water in my garage by our MacClean Water Softner System. The water seems to be coming from the Mineral Tank Base. What does this mean?

I'm not a water softner expert, but I do own one. Is the mineral tank a plastic tank, or metal? And how old is it? Either way, it sounds like there is a crack in the bottom of the tank. I have a SEARS unit, and the tank is plastic. I am guessing it will leak some day. Salt is very corrosive and I am sure it will wear out the tank from inside out, eventually.

Have you checked where your discharge tub empties? It may have slipped and is discharging onto the floor.
