Okay to start I dyed my hair I used Redken color gels 2N. I love really dark brown hair on me and that is all I wanted. Well it went black, really black. I do not mind it dark but cannot stand that it has no brown tint to it at all. Well this was almost 2 months ago. I purchased a light brown dye from the store not even so much to lighten it but just to add some brown. No change of course. After I have read other questions on here I know why. Well now I have used Color oops and it did take it out to an orange color which I knew would happen my only problem now is from my roots half way down my hair is really orange and the ends are just lighter. I am planning to dye again but am not sure if I should use Color Oops on my ends again to even it out, or do I need a filler so the color will be even. Also my ends are not in the best shape now so I know I need to get a good haircut but in the mean time should I use dark brown again or a shade lighter, because of the damage I do not want black hair again. I know the best thing is to go to the salon but I really cannot afford an expensive color correct right at the moment. Thank you in advance for any help.

Bleach your hair with those peroxide mixs you get et voilà... a fresh pallet to play with, find the coluor you want and apply it, but be warned, it will be more intense than it shows on the packet

Applying a brown hair color on dark or black hair will do nothing. Color cannot lift color. You must use a higher volume peroxide to lift hair color. However, a single process permanent color will produce a certain amount of lightening, which can make your hair brassy. If you have black hair and want to go lighter, it's best to pre-lighten the hair to achieve results. Hair color removers can make your hair brassy or orange. Do not re-apply a hair color remover on your hair. Since your current hair color is orange, you can use a cool base medium brown or light brown hair color to make it look decent. If your ends are damaged, please get them trimmed.

Nahh I wouldn't use colour oops again... since your @ a lighter colour dying it a vry light brown would give your hair just a brown colour which if its 2 light you could slowly darken it instead of going dark and then having it TOO dark

Don't put anymore color remover on your hair if it is in bad shape.Use A semi permanent color in a level 5-6 no darker, Your hair will take darker because color removers make hair very porous. Do your roots first for 15 min then do the ends the last 15. Have a friend apply the color for you so it is even. You might want to mix a natural color with a cool color. Becareful of using a store bought ash color they leave a very unnatural color if used alone .It will help the brassy ends but your new growth area "roots" will look too ashy.
And get a Hair cut.

I am a hair dresser and what you are doing to your hair is going to cause a lot of stress. If you can go to JCPenny Salon and have them correct it for you. If you can't then you need to do 2 different formulas. One for the orange part and one for the ends. To get ride of the orange your color has to have purple in it and to have brown hair you need a level 4 or 5. Any thing lower than a 4 will be different shades of black. So on the orange you need to use a 4 or 5 V. On the ends you can use a 4 or 5 N depending if your ends are lighter than the root area and if it has any yellow or red. And because you don't want to lift it any more you will use only 10 volume developer. Good luck and I hope this helped. But... if you can let the experts handle it. Color can be tricky some times.
