    Immigration situtation
My husband has been in the uk from 1999, he had problems obtaining his passport from a college he attended because they closed down with out him knowing. So it took him a while to find his passport which was expired at the time. He has been married for 4 years now and is waiting to get his passport back from the home office. They have been holding on to it for the last 4 years and he has to depend on his wife who is a british citizen. Is this legal and how long do you think it would take for him to get a response from the home office. And what procedure do you think he could try to get an answer about his case and what is really going on with his case.
    Can you help me please?

He can go to the embassy of the county he is a citizen of, and request a replacement passpoprt.

In fact as soon as he was not able to get it, all he needed to do was file for a replacement
