I am currently trying to locate my birth father. I know that his name is Jim Hoke Smith, his approximate age is 61 and his birth place was in Georgia. The last known state that I have for him would be California, back when I was born in 1970. My question is this: "Is there any kind of non-profit organization that would be willing to help me find him free of charge?"

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

Second there are several sites that function as a connection place for adoptees to register in case their birth parents are looking for them.

Have you talked to the adoption agency?

You can list your info on the dozen or more sites on the internet that lists adoption connections.

And sorry with a common name as John Smith, even if I tried to do a search on some of my search contants, I would end up with 1000's in Californa, even by age it may still be 1000's.

But no there really is no free search services that I am aware of.
