I have a covered outdoor lanai area that is 21 feet by 12 feet with a 8 foot ceiling. I have purchased two 52" fans for the area. I can't decide where to place the fans. I don't know whether to divide the room in half and put one fan in the center of each half. Or whether to divide the room into thirds and put one fan at the first third point and the other at the second third point. I will also be using the fans as the primary light source in the area. I hope my question makes sense. Thank you

Of the 12' width is correct --- also feel the 7' from end walls is correct ---

Leaving 7' space between them --- makes sense to me... Hope this helps

Also, Take in consideration placement of furniture, and sometimes exact is not always is best placement. Over a couple of inches and you are center with the Window? that may "Look" correct, where evenly, may "appear" off.

The lighting will be better distributed if you do the thirds layout, as Biggsie laid out. I don't think the air movement will be affected much different between wither method.

Air movement is better if you divide the room in half, however I agree with TK in that the light distribution is more important. If it were my installation I would use Strat's suggestion more than anything-- factor in windows, fireplaces, anything else significant when deciding vs. halves, thirds, or somewhere in between.

Keep in mind the space the fan blades will take up. 26" from center of the ceiling box will mean only 2 foot 8 inches between the fan blades. This will be a lot of air movement in a little space.
