 We have a child we have been caring for in our home for the past 6 months.
Prior to being with us the child was in Foster Care for 4 years. The beginning of last year the child's Foster Parent was granted Guardianship with the Biological parents still having Full Parental Rights. The child and the Guardian started not getting along shortly after the Guardianship was granted. We offered to help out if needed for a short period. Which the Guardian did not take put the child in shelter for a short period when they called us and asked if we would be willing to help out for a few weeks to as long as maybe 6 months (have never heard from the counselor again) until the child could go back with the Guardian. When we tried to work this out with the Guardian. They said that it wasn't going to work and basically does not want the child back in the home. We have other children of our own and have been doing this from the goodness of our hearts... But, at the same time feel the child needs to keep an established relationship with there biological family and eventually go home... We have been encouraging weekly visits home as the child also has several other biological siblings. We are confused as to what to do... We feel that the child needs to be eventually placed back home... But, since the child is no longer in DFSC they will have nothing to do with the case and the Guardian basically wants nothing to do with the child either and gives no help/support anything to us nor the child... The child and guardian haven't spoken in months...
Trying to get any advice from attorney, family services, school etc has been like beating our heads against the wall...
Any help or pointers you have would be greatly appreciated...
