Leaving US to get away from paying child support
My baby's dad is leaving the country to live in Indonesia so he won't have to pay child support. Can he really get away with this.He is on probation for DUI for the next 3 yrs.He took me to court 3 months ago for custody hoping that he will get full or at least 50% custody. The judge grant me with sole legal custody of my baby after he told her he going to leave the country. He now only get visitation. The things is he only been paying for 6 months of the baby life... she is now 3 yrs old.He make 90 grand a yr and was order to pay $1115 a month. This guy willing to go to a 3th world country and get pay less so he can get away from taken care of his child.I take him to court for child support because I think she is both our responsibility... I am sick and tried of father like him.

I don't think he will get away with any of it. If he goes to another country just to get away from you and your baby, is he really worth having around? Sometimes we have to "cut our losses", and move on. I think you and your child would be better off. :(

I think if he is in arrears he can't leave the country without paying most of the Child support. They cannot be more than $2500 in arrears before he can leave the country, and this is new from Homeland Security.

Well first this most likely is just talk. But of course he can do it if he wants to. There is no way you can get their government to inforce the child support. You can perhaps get a warrant out on him for contmept if he does, and have him arrested if he ever comes back to the US.

But if he has a passport merely being behind in child support will not stop him from travel.

If he is on probation for a DUI he just might not be able to leave the country at all. If he is checked at the airport and they happen to run his name, the probation will most likely show up in the computer. The authorities will be called and he will have automatically violated himself and will wait his probation violation hearing in a jail cell and not in Indonesia either. You may consider contacting his probation officer and relaying the information about his skipping the country. They'll take it from there.
