    Hair Disaster--HELP!
I formally had my hair semi-permantly died red. On my last visit I told my hair stylist to go blonde, so we did, she bleached it and put toner in it twice, but on some parts it looks the colour of hay, very yellow. I was thinking of just using at home dye kits to dye it either dark or lighter, but I am afraid it would damage my hair. So I want to try to get my colour to fade, and some told me of washing it with dish soap, or using Prell shampoo, but I only thought that those worked with darker colours. Can anyone help me?

I feel for you, new years eve night my daughter and I decided to dye our hair, she wanted blonde high lights, it came out drop dead gorgeous, I was so proud of myself for doing it right not really knowing what I was doing. I on the other hand wanted a dark brown or natural black, well all said and done I thought it came out pretty nice until the next day when we went in a store and in the light the high lights are purple, I am 39 years old and have purple hair. My daughter said it was way cool, but I can feel the people looking at me, this to will pass I hope

I recommend that you go back to your hairstylist and have him/her fix your hair. Please don't try to color it yourself, it can fry your hair and cause damage to the hair cuticles. It's worth going to the salon to have your hair color corrected.

In order to neutralize the unwanted yellow tones, you must use a violet base color to remove the yellow in your hair. Tell your hairstylist to apply a violet-based toner to your hair to tone down the yellow. ;)
