    Thesis statement
Hey guys, I'm really new to this, so yeah I'm not exactly sure of how this site will help me.

I have to write a research paper for my world history class. The topic I chose to write about was the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. The thing is though, I have no idea what to write for my thesis statement. I would really apriciate it if someone could either make one up for me, get me started on one, or just even give me a few pointers. I have been looking at almost every site and I just can't comprehend how to make one, better yet, make one and make it sound good.

Thanks, you would be taking a load off my shoulders by helping me out.

... By the way, I have already researched the topic... well most of it... and I already know enough about him, I just don't know what it is suppose to look like or even sound like. So please help me out... due Monday. Ahh!

Before you make a thesis statement in an research paper, you have to know your material. So you need to research your topic before zeroing in on a thesis statement. That is where you begin.
rise of Napoleon bonaparte - Google Search

An example of a thesis statement is here:

I would suggest trying to sum up your essay in a short phrase.
You said you did your homework on the subject, so try to sum up
Your essay in a few words. If you can, try to use a "catchy" phrase
To capture the attention of your audience. That is, try to "hook"
Your audience and get them to want to read more of your writing.

Also, try to write as if you are being published in a newspaper
And a lot of people will be reading your article on Napoleon.
