When we originally moved into our apartment we signed a 2 year lease. Towards the end of the lease we verbally committed to staying in the apartment. The landlord decided to raise the rent and had his lawyer draw up a new 1 year lease. However he never dropped off the lease for us to sign. If we had signed it, the lease would terminate in Sept 2008. We are now searching for a house but are not sure when our lease new expires. Did it become a month to month lease?

Check your original lease. It should state that a month to month lease is in effect until a new lease is signed.

The original lease only says that we have 15 days after the original lease expires to resign.
