Have been in home 9 yrs dec 2007 .My gas fireplace tempered glass shattered and the marble around it has all cracked My granite counter top in kitchen has dropped1/4 inches
On one side and inverted sink has dropped down the granite has cracks all in it Im being told by insurance company this is due to settling of house and they are not responsible The tile floor in kitchen and hardwood floors in living room are fine

Does the policy language support the insurance company?
Are there earthquakes in your area?
Has there been blasting in the area? Doesn't have to be real close.
Are there indications of settlement in the basement?
Sounds more like a shock than settlement

Do you have the 2-10 warranty? Some builders offer the warranty.

Do not let your insurance company make the determination, they will frequently find in their favor. Consult a structal engineer to determine th fault, then go at the insuance company again.
