Legality of use Block 14 on my W2
    Hello,
I currently work for a day care center at which I make a wage but then it is paid directly back to the day care center to cover the cost of my kid's day care. This year I made $15,000 but only took home $4000 and the other $11,000 went right back to the daycare I work at. On my W-2 it’s reported as only $4000 in Block 1 wages and the other $11,000 is reported under Block 14. In state taxes (KS) it says $15,000. Additionally there are no numbers in the SocSec wages /tax or Medicare wages/tax. I also got the standard annual childcare tax form that says $11,000 is what I paid and can claim. Does that sound correct and legal or is my employer making a mistake on my W2? Any assistance you can provide on this matter is greatly appreciated.

I cannot address how Kansas treats the income, though I suspect the Kansas attribution is correct.

The debit of your salary to $11,000 appears to be correct, because you CAN pay up to $11K in daycare costs using pre-tax dollars.

However, I believe the lack of reporting Medicare and Social Security wages IS an error about which you need to discuss with your employer.
