    Greasy coat?
I have a schnauzer/terrier cross. and she's about 4 years old. latley her fur has been overly greasy. my parents and i have usually just let it be seeing is how it wasn't very bad. but latley. as i said earlier, her coat is almost too greasy to touch. we give her top of the line mountian dog food. it has rice real meat, blood, soup, and vitamins, after trying this food for about a month her fur cleared up. but now, it doesn't seem to be doing the trick. labman. i see you've seemed to help everybody with a dog question.please help me.
i love my dog with all my life. and feel bad for her, in her condition.

This is not a problem I have experience solving. The best answers come from people that have had the problem and solved it. Most dogs will thrive on most commercial diets. If anything, some of the premium diets have too much fat. You might try something such as Pro Plan, or even Purina one. Check the fat content, and select something with a little less that what you are feeding. Have you talked to your vet about this? They really can fix some problems with their prescription Science Diet.

I wonder if the change of diet was a coincidence. Can you think of any other changes that might have happened at the same time?

Do you brush her? If that leaves the brush greasy, let it soak in soapy water and then rinse it well. In general, baths dry the skin. I keep telling people not to bathe their dog, but most people are complaining about dry skin and itching. If she tolerates baths well, you could bathe her frequently.

    Greasy Hair
    Hi, little miss vixen,
I have raised dogs for a little over 40 years, and this one is new to me, too.
Greasy hair, as well as dry hair, etc, is a sign of the dogs internal system off-balance.
    Could be many cuases.
Personally, I would take her to the Vet, and get his/her opinion, before you keep changing her diet to try finding the problem.
    Happy New Year!
