Looking for answers to sore knees
Every time I use my knees a lot they swell up and hurt really bad to where I can hardly walk. Last weekend we went snowmobile in West for 4 days and by day 3 I couldn't walk because of the pain in kness. Is there anything I can take to keep my knees from doing this? I am a 46 yr old male

I can't suggest anything you can take because we can't prescribe or suggest anything, not knowing what is causing your pain. I can suggest though, that you get yourself to a doctor and find out why.

Are you overweight? My FIL had a horrible time with his knees, but lost 50 pounds and his knees felt better. Then he let the weight come back 3 fold - worse problems developed.

Have you been checked for arthritis? They are several new prescriptions out there that can help.

Hylaronic acid is great for knees and joints. It has no drug interaction problems listed.
I take it all the time. Wal Mart sells it in the vitamin aisle.
You should also check with the doctor to make sure there isn't any serious problem any way.

    Larrys1825:

    Possible causes
    - osteoarthritis
    - tendinitis
    - cartilage or ligament damage [ locking, giving, buckling, popping ? ]
    - less common
    - infection
    - gout
    - rheumatoid and other autoimmune diseases
    - osgood schlatter

The cause has to be treated, but generallly rest, time, and some over the counter ibuprofen [ if you are not allergic and follow the directions ] would help most of these.

You should see a doctor if it persisits or gets worse

You should go to the er asap if your knee is red swollen and you are running a fever [ joint infection ] or if your leg is swollen and you have difficulty breathing [ leg clot, possibly to the lung ]
