Hot Water Heater pressure relief valve
On my water heater, I have the Pressure Relief Valve on top. There is also a (plugged) PRV outlet on the side of the heater. Can I move my valve to the side outlet? Is there a reason that it may have been installed at the top as opposed to the side?

    Thanks

Itin007- The hot water tsank MFG> put it where it is for the right reasons, DO NOT change it from were it is down to the side of tank. The reason it is were it is because they are placed were they will do the most good and the safest place, were it will work the safest & best as it is designed for. ::::: F.B,E.

Call the manufacturer. Look on the web for the instructions. I've seen PRV's on the top and on the side. As to top or side: The manual or it was convenient.

The side is probably a better place because the temperature sensing element doesn't have to be long. Pressure would be sensed either way. I'll admit, I haven't seen both. If they are both labeled PRV, your probably OK to pick one.
