Harbor Breeze Wiring (Remote vs Direct to Switch)
I just purchased a Harbor Breeze Ceiling Fan with a light (187541) from Lowe's. The directions illustrate two ways of wiring it. Option #1: Connect your power supply to the remote transmitter and operate the fan via the remote. Option #2: Wire it directly to an exiting switch (Light/Fan).

I opted to wire it via option #2. Everything went fine and the light and fan work. The only problem is the fan now only operates at one speed (High). I looked around and could not find any switch for the speed. There is only a Reverse switch.

1st question: Can I adjust the speed some how wired directly to the switch/light without the remote ?

2nd Question: If I install the transmitter and use the remote, can I still use the switch to turn on the light and then control the speed via the remote ?

    Appreciate anyone's recommendations.

    1. Does the fan have pullchains?

    2. Do you have one wall switch for the fan and one for the light, or one switch for both?

    1. It does not have a pull chain
    2. There is one switch for the fan ad one for the light
The old fan works fine. Just wanted a more modern look. We were planning on selling it on Craigs list once this new one works. It is 5 blade, 3 light fan. Light green petina finish.

You will need to replace the one switch for the fan, with a basic 3 speed wall control available at any hardware store or home center.
