    Most genes come in pairs- one on each chromasome, You get one set from your mother and one set from your father. They can vary slightly- like mismatched socks.

    Homozyous = the same two genes (known as alleles)
    Heterozygous = two different genes

    The writing convention that is used is a capital letter for a dominant gene and a small letter for the recessive gene.

    A dominant gene is one that override the recessive gene. If B = black hair and b = orange hair then Bb would be a heterozygous black haired creature. The black hair displays it's phenotype (physical result of gene combination).

    The gene combination BB, Bb or bb is known as the genotype.

    Hope this covers what you need to know! Just remember hetero = different and homo = same.
