Looking for the name of a movie...
I think Tom Hanks is in this movie, not sure. The movie is about a older man in a old folks type place. He is telling "his" story to a woman resident there, I believe. He has a pet mouse too, I think. He is telling of how he has lost all of his friends and family. The end point is that he never dies. Neither does his pet mouse. This is driving me insane, someone, please help!! Thanks!!

    The Green Mile
The name of the movie is The Green Mile (1999) and yes it stars Tom Hanks. It's an awesome movie, one of my favorites! Here's more information about it at the IMdB:

Was that really The Green Mile? I don't remember the connection from his being a guard to how he never died. Hmmmmmmm. Was it because of the "magic" from the wrongly executed man? Thanks...

Yup crankiebabie is right... remember before the big guy is excuted? He says to Tom Hanks, "I want to show you something, Boss" and he grabs Tom Hanks' hand and "shows" him, through his mind, who the real murderer of the little girls is. Then he explains that in doing so he had to give "a piece of himself" to Tom Hanks while he did it. He also gave a piece of himself to the mouse, when another inmate is being executed, he "feels" the execution, and happens to be holding the mouse at the same time. Thus the mouse's longevity.
