My son was charged with theft under 5000 in ontario... it was his first time ever having a problem with the law. To date he has not told me a thing but I want to help and support him... what will the cost be and what is most likely to be his fine?
    Thanks so much... sleepless dad

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

Did you read the thread you originally posted in, or any of the several others with the same problem?

There is no way for us to predict either cost of fines. From what I've seen the stores in Canada will impose a $350-$500 fine. That is a civil action. If he's been arrested, then you need to get an attorney to help him get a diversion that will avoid an arrest record.
