Please help me. My 10 year old started her period this year in September and each month she went from 3 days to 5 days. This month she started December 8th and it is now December 30th and she is still going. I called her Doctor about 5 days ago and they said to keep track of her periods for the next couple months and if I see a pattern to call a "gyno" Doctor. She is having blood clots not a lot and her period it not painful. My question is how long is too long she can't keep going like this it's not real heavy but it's more than before Please Help me. Thank you

Keep a calendar of your daughter's menstrual cycle.

On a calendar mark the days her periods start. From this information you can calculate the number of days in your menstrual cycle. For example, if she started her period on December 10, December 10 was the first day of her menstrual cycle. If her next period began January 7, the length of your menstrual cycle was 28 days (22 days in December and 6 days in January). Now, you begin again, with January 7 as day 1 of your next cycle. Please be sure to contact your physician anytime she experiences abnormal menstration.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Once you keep the information for a few months, and visit the doctor, he/she will be better able to help and reassure you. I would be very upset if my doctor suggested I wait "a couple months" and "see how it goes".

That sounds serious enough to me that I'd make an appointment to see the doctor... and/or get a 2nd opinion.

Your doctor should just tell you that he is not the correct dotor to discuss this with. Telling you to "wait" may or may not be correct.

When a parent is concerned about their child's health it is a very serious issue to them, if it is a serious medical issue or not.

I would take her to see a professional in women's health, if your insurance requires a referral, just call your doctors office back and TELL them to refer you now, if not call the one you use, or find one that you would feel OK using.

Taking a child to see a doctor is never a wrong choice, sometimes not needed but always needed if we are concerned

Screw that doctor. Take that baby to another doctor. I know lots of people who started their period a 10 years old but that bleeding for that long doesn't seem normal to me. Take her to a good doctor and if they say it's a normal thing then let me know cause Ive never heard of it. Get her to the doctor and you may if you haven't already want to put her on an iron supplement but ask the doctor about that first too.
