    Inheritance $ in a divorce
I inherited a fair amount of cash and stock from my mother recently who passed away. My spouse and I are now divorcing. Is the inheritance considered my property and not community property? State is California.

California law: "Property acquired during marriage by "gift, bequest, devise, or descent" (i.e. inter vivos or testamentary gift or intestate succession) is the acquiring spouse's separate property. [Ca Const. Art. I § 21; Ca Fam § 770(a)(2)] "

    So, no, it's separate property.

It's yours to keep. You don't owe her a dime.
