Learn a new language? Go to a shooting range and learn how to shoot (gun, arrows, slingshot)

    Buy a puzzle

    Boat in a bottle

Volunteer <--- this, although sounds cheesy is so fulfilling

Set an exercise goal for self (such as... I want to be able to run/walk 3 miles)

When my Dad retired he ran into the same problem - time on his hands and not quite prepared for it all. He did his regular passions like fishing and hunting and camping but wanted something more. He got involved in woodwork. He made tables, bookcases, cabinets, cut patterns for wood crafts and sold them.

I don't know your skills so it is hard to say what would match for you. But finding a hobby that uses your skills is an easy place to start. Expanding your skills and learning something new are avenues for you.

You would be a great mentor, considering your background. But I also recognize that sometimes a person wants to go into a different area after retirement. Whatever you choose, wishing you the very best.

    Hello a:

I don't know if you can afford this one, but it's the coolest hobby I've ever seen.

Start collecting newspaper articles on something: e.g. on airplanes crashes in Mediteranen Sea, or traffic accidents that happened in Cairo, or on political assassinations.

There are a few hobbies that I can think of right off the bat. Doing puzzles is a fun way to spend time. If you are good with more hands-on hobbies, you can try knitting, quilting or sewing. Lately a lot of men have been learning how.

You could always count the number of customers entering and leaving some financial institution? Like a bank for example...

Or record the amounts borrowed, invested or otherwise dealt with certain financial institution. Like a bank for example...
