3 mo old Lab puppy has fleas & we need a safe way to treat our house & yard?
Help, help, help! We just got a lab puppy 4 weeks ago and over Christmas relatives watched her and as a present, returned her with fleas... we combed 70 off her yesterday!! We gave her FrontLine Plus for dogs 8+ weeks and less than 22 lbs but we need to make sure there are no eggs in the house or yard. Anyone have any recommendations? Labman... are you there? Thanks for any advice and Happy New Year.

Depending where you live, you may have one of the safest, most effective flea killer there is for your yard, cold weather. If not, check the insecticides where they sell lawn and garden supplies. Read the labels carefully and select something that will kill fleas, but safe for dogs.

There was a recent study that suggested vacuuming was highly effective in the house. It has always been seen as a good first step and many suggest a flea collar in the bag or disposing of the bag promptly. Follow up with a spray on the carpet and places you can't vacuum, maybe the car too. I have had good luck in the past with Ovitrol from my vet. Likely your vet has it or another safe, effective product.

None of my dogs have had fleas since 2002 when I took Gretchen to visit my sister's flea bitten cats. I have heard many good reports on the Frontline. Knock down what is in the house, and your dog may be fine.
