    Puppy neutered... a few ?'s
    my 7 month old mini doxie got neurtered today and i just picked him up....hes a little shaky, is this nervousness or soreness or not normal? hes bin licking his stitches a little too...how much is too much? wat should i do if he is licking too much??

    The anesthesia maybe a bigger factor than the surgery. By morning, he may be in fairly good shape. Unless he is almost constantly licking the stitches, I wouldn't worry about it. You could see what the vet has to say in the morning. Don't know if there is a better remedy that the cones.

    Thank you for being a responsible pet owner. He should continue as a loving pet and have less chance of cancer in later life. With good care, he could live a long time. Come back anytime with more questions.

    Yeah a dog will be drowsy from the sedation for a while after surgery. Rest cure it though. As for the licking they will lick, just keep an eye on the incision if it becomes red and swollen or looks like any type of rash around it you need to take him to the vet. E-collars will usually be given to stop the licking. Don't let him run or romp around for a few days. Basically just keep an eye on him for any odd activities or behavior. If anything at all looks out of the ordinary call the vet. Hope that helps.
