    19 month old niece.
My sister has a 19 month old daughter. The baby's father has bought about 6 packs of pampers,2 dresses and one toy for her. My sister is still dating the guy,but he wants out. He keeps threating her saying he will get custody of the baby since he makes more money. He is also Bipolar and refuses to take meds.. I don't know if that has any thing to do with him acting crazy he chokes my sis till she passes out.. he held the baby hostage with a machete in his hands and made threats to kill him,my sis and the baby.Even now he still says he is going to kill his self. She never reports anything since she claims she loves him. I told my sister to leave him but she won't. Now he wants custody,he doesn't take care of the baby he never buys her any thing or even spend much time with her.My sister won't and hasn't asked him for money because he throws a fit all she asks is him to be around. The baby crys when ever he is around because he picks on her throws toys at her and stuff.. personally Ive had my fill with him and him and I can't be in the same room with out fighting. He lives with his mom who doesn't even want the baby around. My question is.. in your opinion do you think he has a chance to gain custody? Visitations?

Stop worrying about custody, and get the baby and the mother away from that psycho. What kind of person would put up with that? Bipolar is a serious illness, and the fact that he held the baby hostage with a knife is scary, call law enforcement NOW, before you have to attend a funeral.

Ive tried to get them away from him.. but my sister won't she says she's in love. Its crazy,to me how she can sit around with a guy who threated her or her baby. I only asked about custody because that's why she said she won't leave him.. she doesn't want him to have custody. I've called the cops and he turns all nice.. and she acts like nothing happened and made me look like a fool!

Your sister won't leave him because she's in love, but he's threatened to kill her child? Call child protective services. She can do whatever she wants with her life, but that kid deserves to have someone looking after her interests.

If the mother will not do anything she has more mental issues than the father and none of them are fit to be the parents, the baby would be better off in foster care, call protective serives, or child welfare and get the baby out of there.

    Hello tr:

The Padre is right on. If you care about your niece, you should realize that ANY parent who would let her child be subjected to that kind of behavior is as BAD a parent, and maybe even WORSE than the perpetrator.

Therefore, NEITHER of them should have this child.

I don't know where you come off thinking your sister should have this child AT ALL. Call CPS TODAY. YES, on Christmas.

If what you've said is true, then he has little chance of getting custody and, at best, will only get very limited, supervised visitation. But somebody better report him and fast. He needs some serious help, for his own protection and that of others.

Then your sister is just as much to blame and someone needs to report her as well. The child needs to be in foster care as neither one of them are fit parents. It sounds like your sister may have some problems of her own and needs treatment as well.

Well yes my sister has some issues and she needs to deal with them.. alot of things have happened to her in the past to make her the way she is.. but that's another story! But I found out the baby's father has a warrant and I turned him in.. I figured at least he will be gone till I get my stuff together... my husband and I are hiring a lawyer and I will try for custody of my niece.. I don't want her in foster care and I am stable and will take very good care of her!. but thanks for yalls input and opinons!
