I wouldn't use on line brokers but I do use my financial advisor, who I trust, at my bank. I wouldn't trust $l0. With any on line broker.

Truth be told, with 25,000 to invest, I would not use an online broker.

However, if you're just starting and want to invest... say... 1000, then an online broker isn't a bad idea. Online brokers aren't too bad if you know what to invest in. their "advice" isn't solid, as they're pretty much following a manual. But if you know which stocks to invest in, then an online broker such as...

    Sharebuilder
    Td ameritrade
    Scott trade
    Fidelity

    Aren't bad.

But again, anything above 5000, go to a real broker.
