Does anyone watch "According to Jim"?
I am curious what your opionion is of his gorgeous and feisty wife, played by Cheryl (Courtney Thorne-Smith). She appears to be a "woman in love" and willing to do anything for her husband.

A little bit of an odd question! But I do watch the show... one of my faves. Since I'm a girl I may have a bit of a dif take on Cheryl. She married the "man's man" She puts up with all of his crap and overlooks it in order to keep peace. BUT... I think she's whiny, and either very naive--or very crafty. She knows Jim like the back of her hand, so she's always expecting him to screw up and just accepts it! She knows that although he is a moron most of the time, he will take care of her and the kids. In the end she balances out Jim, and could make him fall to his knees in a second! She's still a little too "goody two shoes" for me though!

I am not a TV watcher, unfortunately, and watched American Idol for the first time, last season. And just found According to Jim during the holidays; I was up late and watching a syndicated (?) version, maybe from the first year or so, before Kyle entered the scene. I guess I've seen about ten of them. I don't think Cheryl sees Jim as a moron at all; she looks into his eyes and smiles. But he gets into his messes, and then Cheryl gets into hers, and it seems he asks her to accept him for who he is, and she does because she loves him. Or at least that is how it appears. I saw on the Jim Belushi web site that the DVD of According to Jim may be released this January. The show may be in its 7th year, and it seems to have lost its theme. Last week Jim had three housewives tending to the home while Cheryl was away with her hurt Mom; a bit of a stretch??

Haha... I saw that episode last week too! Yeah, a bit of a stretch for sure. I like "According to Jim" because it reminds me of some of the old sitcoms really. For the same reason, I like "Everybody Loves Raymond" and " King of Queens" too! A family show, but the adult undertones, which makes them funnier.

You just started watching Am Idol... don't even get me started.. lol. I started to watch in the second season, and I love to see if I can pick the winner right from the start. Pretty nerdy eh?. lol I love to hear good singers, but just the same, I get a kick out of the ones that "think" they're good and embarrass themselves! I need a life right?! Lol

I also forgot to mention that I did hear that series 1 and 2 (?) were coming out on DVD. The later episodes changed a bit. Cheryl doesn't put up with Jim's antics as much as she used to. And of course she loves him... he's a nerd, hidden behind a goof, hidden behind a softie, hidden behind a macho guy! What girl doesn't want that combo... oops sorry, that really IS what we want, lol Cheryl looks at him and smiles because she can see right through who he is, and loves him in spite of it all. Nuf said, haha!

Cheryl hasn't been on the last two episodes; what a bummer! The writers are making him look too much like Archie Bunker. Their intrigues are interesting but I miss Cheryl's verbal exchanges and how she accepts him for who he is.

    This... IS an odd question.

She's the typical comedy housewife... hot wife in good shape married to a fat insensitive idiot of a husband trying to keep the family together. She belongs with:

    Marge Simpson
    Lois Griffin
    Debra (from Everybody Loves Raymond)

I think the only difference between Cheryl and Debra is that Cheryl's character seems to be so naïve and genuinely surprised when Jim pulls off some crazy scheme, and then she thinks she's so smart when she catches him. The character of Debra however, fully expects Ray to screw up, and doesn't put up with his crap... or his parents crap... who I think are the best characters on that show. Especially Frank... typical grumpy old man that would be totally lost without his wife taking care of him.
