    Water pipes making noise?
When I flush my toilet when it just starts to finish filling my water pipe from the main in basement to house starts a howling or humming vibration. What can cause this and how do I fix it. We just moved into the house and it really is bothersome. Thanks

Try grabbing the float inside that tank and press it further down that normal. Does that change or stop the noise, can you feel the vibration? I think you have a vibrating washer in your ballcock. It could also be a bad washer in the stop under the tank, feel that too for vibration.

The float arm vibrates when making the noise. I pushed down and noise went away till I let go. Noise stopped when I lifted the arm right away. Is the shutoff valve on float not closing correctly. Just replace assy. To repair? Thanks for all the help.

If you want to replace the entire fill valve you can do that for about $10, I'd install a Fluidmaster 400. You can also try replacing just the washer inside your old stopcock, probably about $2 but I do not know what model you have so no specific instructions. If you can figure out what it is and decide to repair just post back the info. Someone is always here to help.
