    Will Casey go to jail?
It turns out that in Louisiana (where Jamie Lynn Spears lives) a 19 yr old having sex with someone under 17 is guilty of statutory rape. There seems to be some conflict on how old the younger Spear's boyfriend is, but some accounts say he's 19.

By the way they allegedly met in church.

If I were Lynne Spears (the mom) I would throw the book at him (and not the one she wrote). Having JLS announce her pregnancy is going to costmom big time because who is going to want a book on parenting from a woman who has one daughter who loses her babies and another who gets knocked up while underage?

What is going to happen to Jamie's career? Like anyone really cares... but she can't film Zoey 101 pregnant can she? Also, this is a show for teens. I know of several mothers who have now banned this show from their homes as she is not a good role model.

Should the boyfriend be jailed? Of course, he's human just like any other person who commits this act. Just because Jamie is famous does not mean he should get of Scott free (sorry for the pun).

Nickelodeon just finished filming the final season, but whether it ever gets aired is another story. I wonder if there is a morals clause in her contract? There usually is. I hope she hasn't spent the money she got for the final season.

P.S. No problem with the pun, but the term is SCOT free. It derives from the Norse word for payments.

To me he should not be jailed. They have been in a relationship, mom was aware of the nature of their relationship. If she had a problem with it she should have acted on it before her daughter became pregnant. To act on it now is sort of an after thought don't you think? It would be like mom saying "I was cool with you sleeping with my daughter before, but now that she is pregnant, someone has to pay!"

Edit: and no I don't care what happens to her career.

I wonder if mom will get into trouble for letting her daughter be with a 19 year old man. I heard on the radio that he lived with the daughter.

Was mom aware that the relationship was sexual? I haven't heard anything along those lines.

I'm 21. If I date a 14 year old girl, and her mother was aware... doesn't mean that I don't have a problem. I should be jailed. I should... get counseling. I'm just saying... just because the parties involved were OK with the situation doesn't make it OK for the law. It's the law.

I doubt the parents are as responsible as they should be, so I bet he never gets charged. I had heard they were living together... or at least apartment hunting. Something like that anyway.

I wondering if she's thought about someday being 32 with a 16 year old child of her own.

Whether the mother knows about it has nothing to do with the laws. Mothers who are in agreement with their daughters dating men over the age of consent does not change the fact that it is illegal and punishable in a court of law.

It is up to the prosecutor whether he/she wants to prosecute this as a crime or not. Mom does not have to act on this after the fact. It is a crime and it is, or should be, in the hands of a prosecutor.

And yes, I know it's SCOT, but I just had to add the other T for effect.

Apparently one of the problems here is jurisdiction. JLS lives in Louisianna, Casey lives in Missississippi and the intercourse may have occurred in California.

But I would really like to see this prosecuted. Teen pregnancy has been starting to increase again and we do NOT need a Jamie Lynn Spears to proudly hold up her baby.

I am completely disgusted by this whole entire situation because now I am having to explain to my 8 year old little girl, who has heard on the radio that the Zoey 101 start is pregnant at the age of 16, how in the world she got pregnant. My daughter believes that you have to be married to have a baby (wink wink) Those are the morals I instill in my children! I am not ready to have the sex talk with my 8 year old!!

Another question is who will get custody? K-Fed?

I think that this is just plain disgusting. Yes, the young man should be prosecuted. He is an adult. If this gets passed by and he gets a free pass on this - why even have the laws on the books? It just means the laws apply to some and not all. What a lesson to all 19 yr olds having sex with minors.

The Spears family - what can I say that is printable? Not much. White trash rings a bell. But I did read where Linda Ellerbee has been approached by Nick to do a story on this, to explain sex to the teens. Rolls my eyes.
