Here is my problem. I want red hair. I have been told that using henna will turn my hair red. But, it is very damaged from dying it in the past. Will henna damage it the same as hair dye? What kind of product should I look for? There are so many different kinds of henna products that I don't know where to start! Thanks for your time and answers! They are appreciated!

Hi, I'm actually a natural blonde, but have been using Henna for several years now to color it red.

Henna is actually better than hair dye because it's a natural colorant and stengthener, and has conditioning properties. However, if in the past year you have straightened, permed, dyed, or bleached your hair, do NOT use compound Henna, because it CAN cause damage. Use body art quality Henna. As with any kind of coloring product make sure you do a strand test first to see if you'll be happy with the color. Just go to a beauty supply store and they'll help you to get everything you need.
