    Questionable Collection Methods
My Ex-wife got a credit card in my name and used my parent's phone number as a contact number. My parents have been contacted numerous times causing them to become quite upset. I have contacted the collection company and have established a new address and contact number but, since the debt is my Ex's I am not paying it. Is there some way to get the creditor's to cease the calls? They are harassing a party not even involved in the debt when they know that the debtor no longer resides at that number. Is this legal in accordance to consumer debt practices?

Send them a notice that all contact shall be done in writing only, and don't call on the telephone. If they call after that it will be consider harassment.

No, but legal does not stop over 1/2 of them, wait till they start telling her or you that the police will be at their door today, or that they will take your home or car this week. I have a saying, if a collections person mouth is moving, they are lying normally
