In your case, I'd say try to get a credit card with a low limit (talk to a local credit union - they might have a card) and use it (but pay it off in full every month!) for a few purchases here and there. Regular payments will be reported to the credit agencies and that will help establish yourself. Student loans will definitely build your credit, if you take any out.

That may work, sounds good to me. I would think that if your parents would co-sign for you on a bank loan that that may get you a loan that would show a commitment with a regular payment history instead of a varying payment amount and for various items.
