Hey I understand that you are a helth expert... so I just had a question... I have not gotten my period for almost 2 years I just turned 16 December 12th. I refuse to go to the doctor.. Like seriously I Will not go... since the last time I have gotten my period... I have put on some weight... Could That have something to do with it?

Weight may be an issue, but there could be other things going on that are more serious and do need medical attention.

Why do you refuse to go to a doctor?

I just hate doctors all together... Im so scared that they are going to tell me that there is something wrong with me or something that's y I do not want to go... I would rather not know what's wrong with me then have to go to the doctor and find out... many people have tried to get me to go and I just won't. :/

Doctors are there to help keep us healthy when we are healthy, and they are there to make us healthy again when we are not.

I understand your fear, and it's okay to be afraid. But if there is something wrong, it needs to be treated.

Once again, I have to agree with J_9. I had cancer too and even though I knew something was wrong I wound't go... wouldn't go... FINALLY I freaked out and ended up in the ER.. with a 15lb tumor. All I needed was surgery and a few weeks to heal and for 10 years I've had good health.

This isn't meant to scare you at all, because the fact is my experience was VERY rare. What we are trying to tell you is that your health is important. Doctors are not something to be afraid of, they are people who help. They are also people who've "seen it all" so nothing happening to your body is going to surprise them.

Not having a period for 2 years could indicate a problem... it may be something simple like putting you on birth control to help get your cycle on track... it may be something more... you won't know until you have an exam. You are worth it, so please get checked out.

There are women doctors out there who understand what it's like being afraid of going to the doctor. There is actually a name for it... "White Coat Fever."

No I have never had a bad experence... I just don't like going to the doctor for this reason.. I have no problem going to the doctor for something.. but this just freaks me out and I won't go:(

Do you have a male doctor hun? Have you considered going to a female doctor? You know she has her periods monthly too, she probably has even skipped a few periods also.

If you are shy because of this problem, it's probably better you go to a woman who can sympathize with what you are going through.

Putting on weight could have something to do with it, but it depends on how much weight. Also, you do not mention if you are sexually active.

One of my bestfriends daughter in laws refused to go to the dr too. We found out two weeks ago that she's about seven months pregnant. She didn't start going in for prenatal care until last week. Today because she didn't get the care for her and her child she was rushed to the women's hospital from her regular dr office in an ambulance. She might be losing her child. I don't know yet. I know your not pregnant. But I also know that if you don't go to the dr or nurse then you might find that something you could have prevented can harm your future children. We all conquer fear in our own ways. If you can't go for you then go for the children that you want in the future. You wouldn't let your daughter refuse to go to the dr when you know that the best way to stay healthy is to prevent or at the very least detect early would you?
