    Are scan dates quite accurate
I had a scan on the 7th of December and they told me I was 18 weeks and 1 day pregnant after the nurse took measurments of the baby!

Is this right or am I 16 weeks?

And if I was 18 weeks and 1 day is that the day I conceived?

    Please help me :)

Scan dates simply measure the size of the baby. Your baby could be a big baby, measuring at 20 weeks when you are actually only 18...

    OR

Your baby may be a small baby measuring at 18 when you are really 20.

You see, some people are big, some are small... Same with babies.

There is no way to tell EXACTLY beyond the shadow of a doubt how far along you are... Estimating gestational age is an educated guess at best and not an exact science.

My scan dates r they true
I went for my scan on th 17th of December and they told me I was 18 weeks and 1 day pregnant. I am going by these dates as they are the same as my doctors!

So from the 7th do you count back 18 weeks and 1 day and is this also my estimated conception date?

You got perfectly good answers here and one from a lady that's actually studying in the delivery suite at the moment.

When was your LMP? That is how you calculate your conception date.

As we don't know your medical history, you would have to discuss this with your doctor.

Hun, you are panicking over one day? One day will not make a difference in any way, shape, or form.

Conception is a guessing game pure and simple. For me, for you, AND for your doctor. There is no way to tell 100% when you conceived. It's impossible.

I think the pregnancy might be figured by your lMP which would make you 16 weeks. If this is something you really need to know I would ask the nurse how it works. Give her a call she would be more than happy to talk to you.

    Love,
    Michelle
