What results if child visitation orders not being followed?
This is a theoretical question only for me, and not a real situation that has any effect on me.

I am wondering if a court ordered child visitation is not followed in a divorce case, what can be done?

Does the parent who is not getting visitation need to call the police? Does that parent have to go back to court?

Are there criminal charges to be filed against the non-compliant parent?

I have wondered about this, but thankfully have never been in the situation personally.

All I have ever heard about parents not living up to giving the other parent their court ordered visitations is they have to take it back to court and the Judge tells them that they have to give them their visitations. They leave court and nothing is done and no changes most of the time. I have never heard of anyone being charged with anything.

There is no criminal issue, this is civil.

The parent who is not getting visits has to go back to court, at some point the judge can declare the parent in contempt and fine them for every time they do not allow a visit.

My son has this happening to him, it took about 5 or 6 visits to court before the judge did anything
