    92 Honda Civic not starting
Hello, my 92 civic for a while had an intermittent starting problem, sometimes it would crank over continuously and not start at all, other times it would not start during the cranking period, but would start when the key is released back to the on position, this happened for months but always started. The last two times this happened a jump start was used at the same time even thou it cranked over, was thinking battery was suppling enough voltage to the distributor, and this seemed to work. So I bought a new battery but there was no change to this situation. The last time I jumped it with the new battery, it started again, but for some reason when I got back into the car I touched the ignition key, did not turn it because I knew the engine was already running, just a juggle of the switch, and the engine shut off, not to fire up again just crank over. Could the problem be the Ignition switch itself, are they known to go bad? Thanks

Yes, it sounds like you could have a bad ignition switch. There have been a number of problems with Honda ignition switches over the years. Here's how to replace it:

    1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
    2. Remove dashboard lower cover and knee bolster.
    3. Disconnect 5-P connector from under-dash fuse box and 7-P connector from main wire harness.
    4. Remove steering column covers.
    5. Insert key and turn it to "0".
    6. Remove two screws from switch and replace.
