    Gas dryer not getting hot
Can anyone tell me if a Sears series 70 gas dryer has a pilot light or auto ignition? All of a sudden the heating element does not come on.

    Model #? Aprox. Age?

    Ignitors must be periodically replaced.

Since the one I bought in 1973 didn't, I doubt yours does either. The hot surface igniter needs to get red hot, and the flame detector needs to detect the flame. Also the temperature limit switches all need to be working correctly.

    Thank you for your replies.

I was able to fix thanks to some help from a very nice lady at the Sears parts store. Problem was the thermo fuse had blown. According to her, when your dryer loses heat all of a sudden it's most likely that fuse, caused by a partially blocked vent pipe.

    Thanks again
