    Wondering what my chances are.
I am 18 years old, I live in Alberta I am 5 months pregnant. I just recently broke up with the father of my child because he was verbaly and physically abuseing me and also cheating on me. His parents and him are threatening me with taking my child away because they have a lot of money. I live at home with my parents I am still in school, Im in a good environment and just want what's best for my child. What do I do? And he is in college and doesn't have a job so how will child support work?

You must do what is in the best interest of the child, and that is to try and be mutual with each other. Each parent should have an equal opportunity to see and spend time with their child and each parent should contribute to the child's life financially. In regards to child support, the child support formula allows the friend of the court to impute income. Imputation means that the court finds you have the ability to earn a certain amount or have earned a certain amount in the past and, therefore, it bases your order on those amounts of income.
