Hi can any one help ,
I don't have my puppy yet , I get him in 4 days and I intend on crate training him but I've looked up advise on this and I'm very confused.
I've been advised to lock my puppy I his crate overnight and when I'm out after taking steps to introduce him to it and get used to it but I've also been advised not to leave water in his crate as he will spill it. But at another point I was told he should access to fresh water at all times.
To solve this I was going to put his crate in my lobby way (he has no access to therest of the house and there's nothing to damage or chew there , leave the crate door open and have a pee pad and water in the lobby but I'm worried this is just giving him permission to wee indoors and he has no reoson to teach himself to hold it in . I'm not sure what it is I should do.
HELP PLEASE...

I have read a lot of advise on crate training too. Some of it from those breeding and supervising the care of 300-400 Labs a year. Others, I wonder if the author even owns a dog or has to work outside the home. Any time I am around and can watch the puppy, I don't crate it. Usually it works just fine leaving puppies as young as 7 weeks in the crate 4-5 hours when I am at work.
