American Standard Evaporator Fan Motor Broken
Repairman said that the Evaporator Fan Motor (also called it variable speed motor) was broken and needed to order a new one. I'm trying to get a quote for the part but can't find this terminology. What is it called? Also, the unit was installed in June 2005 - do you think the part is under warranty? Any idea what it cost (part & install)?
    Thanks for your help!

If you have a true variable speed motor get your $$$$$$ ready to spend.

These are DC motors and need to be installed by someone who knows what they are doing. The motor has 3 parts. The motor, end bell, and the circuit board that controls it. They have to be adjusted for air flow and take special tools to do so. If you are the original owner there might be a warranty and it will be contained in the paper work for the furnace when you bought it new.

Should be under warranty, most all furnace company give at least 5 years on parts, you will have to pay labor,,
