Why is TiVo better than Vcr
I have a Vcr connected to a Digital Cable Box. I cannot watch a show and tape another I can tape the show I'm watching only. What is TiVo and what components do I need, and do you know the cost and if it's worth while. Thank you so much. Components

Hmm, I'm surprised by this one but not totally. In order for you to view a program and record another you would need to 2 input sources from the cable box to the VCR.

With TIVO, both tuners are built into the unit. Make sure that the Tivo you get comes from either the cable company or a store representing the cable company.

Personally, the TIVO was a very pleasant surprise for me because of its features. Also, Tivo is the very first unit that my wife is willing to program because of its ease of operation.

What Tivo does is record the program digitally onto a computer hard drive. Because a Tivo includes multiple tuners, you can record one program while watching another.

Also Tivo is programmed not by a start and end time, but by selecting a program from a program listing.

Using a PVR (Personal Video Recorder),whether it be a Tivo, or built into a settop box, or connected to a computer has a number of advantages over a VCR or DVD recorder.
